Glaedig Jul
Remember when you were a kid; how you would wait, and wait, and wait, some more. Then, that wonderful day arrived. It was FINALLY Christmas. Yep, it was Christmas, no doubt about it! You knew that for sure because when you arrived at Grandma’s house, you would open the front door and with each step leading up to her kitchen there was no mistaking that aroma: it was the rodkaal! Then, you would reach the kitchen and there was Grandpa. You could see that he was eating something, but he quietly begged you not to say anything. He had managed to sneak a cherry out of the strainer and you knew that if you snuck one too, without Grandma catching you, then the Aebblekage would not look lopsided, and Grandpa would not get into too much trouble. So, you would help him out. That was just the start of the fun for the evening. Soon, there would be dancing around the Christmas tree, you would recite your piece from the Christmas play at church (and you would laugh at your brother as he tried to remember his) and if you were lucky, maybe you would receive even a gift or two.

Well that is the feeling we want to pass on to you at Christmas. We have tried to recreate a little touch of Danish Christmas with our Taste of Denmark – Christmas Edition. We begin the evening with dinner music, followed by a traditional Danish supper (including all the cherries!) We also do our best to provide entertainment with a Christmas flair. Along the way we give out door prizes, one of course goes to the lucky almond winner. We wrap-up our evening with the Danish tradition of dancing around the Christmas tree while we sing our favorite Christmas Carols. We hope you will be able to join us again this year as we celebrate the holiday in Danish fashion.
